“A series of miraculous introductions over a very short period of time led me to a private ceremony with Shine on August 4, 2022. I have suffered serious depression since early childhood, a deep unexplained sorrow that has plagued me every day. This led to years of therapy, medication, hospitalization and near suicide. Early on, I was aware of shamanism but ‘knew’ I must await that one person who could guide me. Finally, at age 65, I met that person. Shine said he would play some music as it was important to the journey. Being a person of silence I was dubious, but I was also anxious to partner with plant medicine and give in to the experience. “I went to see Shine and Edysha to support my friend who was struggling with PTSD. I was in my own grief though, after my husband had died from a difficult illness. The medicine I took changed me. In the grief therapy I’d already come to intellectually understand many things about my grief, but ceremonial medicine taken in a safe and caring environment helped me feel my grief as a whole organism and gave me a way and a permission to move past the worst of it. At every moment before, during, and after the ceremony I felt held by the group in the room and I felt safe, finally, to truly grieve. A weight was taken from me that did not diminish the love I had for my husband.

I later did a private session with Shine to work on some of my own post-grief issues. Again, I felt supported in my personal journey – independent yet cared for. This kind of care made (and still makes) me brave. That’s what shamans do: they point the way.

Edysha is Mother Earth grounding the space and keeping us all present and safe with her songs and Feminine spirit while Shine is like the Father of Creation playing his instruments, singing and together they bless the entire space. Being a musician, all I can say is please let me be able to share music in the same way as I felt that evening.... all of my senses were super magnified and my heart chakra expanded beyond capacity. “As I arrive Shine greets me warmly, we settle and chat for a while. His words ring true and our conversation enables me to find perspective in my thoughts and world view. “I met Shine under the pretense of learning about Plant Medicine.  I knew right away he was extraordinary. Shine is an extremely present, self-aware, kind and humble shaman / medicine man.  I was aware he played the didgeridoo (knew nothing about it) but when he started, I’ll never forget how impactful that first music therapy session was, it released a torrent of emotion and it resonated deeply with me; at the time I didn’t realize it but focusing on his music brought me into the present moment.  The following days I couldn’t stop singing and impersonating the sounds of the didgeridoo.  I’ve since had numerous music therapy sessions with Shine, each one impacting parts of me differently.  Focusing on his playing with your eyes closed, laying down shakes you to the core.  Shine is like a sherpa guiding you through layers of consciousness, casually taking you up and down the gamma, beta, alpha and theta brain wave cycles (and beyond).
